Benaroya Pictures has come on to finance Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage. As reported exclusively on Screendaily last week, the Weinstein Company commenced international pre-sales at the AFM.
Fork Films, Union Entertainment Group and Three Point Capital and Venture Forth are producing the ensemble starring Kristin Wiig, Guy Pearce, Hailee Steinfeld and Nick Nolte. Christine Lahti and Jennifer Jason Leigh have also joined the cast.
Liza Johnson directs from a screenplay by Mark Jude Poirier based on Alice Munro’s short story about a teenage girl who fools the nanny into thinking her father is attracted to her.
Dylan Sellers, Robert Ogden Barnum, Jamin O’Brien, Michael Benaroya and Cassian Elwes produce and Abigail Disney, Buddy Patrick, Joe Jenckes and Jacob Pechenik are the executive producers.
“We are very excited to be working alongside talent like Kristin, Guy, Hailee and Nick, especially on such a heartfelt story such as this,” said Barnum. “Liza’s assembled a group of actors and a creative team that we couldn’t be more proud of,” said producer Robert Ogden Barnum.
