Roy Lee and Adrian Askarieh are attached to produce the adaptation of the smash video game with John P Middleton on board as executive producer.
CBS Films negotiated the deal with Square Enix and evp of production Maria Faillace and creative executive Alex Ginno will oversee the project for the studio.
Deus Ex launched in June 2000 and takes place in a near future where bionic enhancement has become commonplace as a special agent races to unravel a global conspiracy.
The latest entry in the game series, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, debuted in 2011 and will serve as the primary template for the film. Eidos-Montréal developed the game and Square Enix is the publisher.
“No one knows Human Revolution like the team that created it and we look forward to working with them from day one to make a film adaptation worthy of the Deus Ex name,” CBS Films co-president Terry Press said.
