The Dodge College Of Film And Media Arts has unveiled details of its $100m live-learn project for film students.
The 3.5acre Filmmakers’ Village will have a unique feature in that elements of the building will be designed to double as film locations.
More than 5,000 sq ft of multi-purpose space has been integrated into the project to allow for activities such as casual meetings, private screenings, editing suites and formal screenings for the community.
The university is financing the project with a bond from the California Educational Facilities Authority.
The school plans to break ground in February and expects the Filmmakers’ Village to open its doors to students in autumn 2013.
“Filmmakers’ Village will be unlike any facility anywhere in providing an environment specifically tailored for the way this new generation of storytellers live and learn,” dean Bob Bassett said. “This new facility is a shining example of how Chapman University’s Dodge College continues to evolve to provide unique opportunities for our students.”
