The sci fi feature about a mission to Mars is being directed by Ruairi Robsinson and produced by Qwerty Films; Focus will start sales at the AFM this week.

Focus Features International (FFI) is to handle interantional sales on sci-fi thriller The Last Days On Mars based on a script by screenwriter Clive Dawson.

Oscar nominated short film-maker Ruairi Robinson makes his feature debut on the film, which centres around an astronaut crew on the verge of a major breakthrough on Mars, whose mission turns deadly.

The film was previously called The Animators.

Qwerty Films’ Michael Kuhn and Andrea Cornwell are producing the film, with Focus Features International handling international sales and distribution.

FFI will commence sales at the American Film Market this week.

The Last Days On Mars is currently in pre-production and is expected to start shooting early 2012 on location in Jordan and at Shepperton Studios in the UK.

“We are looking forward to working with exciting new filmmaker Ruairi Robinson who has already showcased his talent with a number of short films, and we are also thrilled to be involved in a project together with renowned producer Michael Kuhn who will help guide Ruairi’s vision for the film,” said Focus Features International Co-President Alison Thompson.
