France’s Alfama Films has joined forces with Portugal’s Clap Filmes for Delphine Kreuter’s Dubai Flamingos about a Dubai flying instructor deciding to search for his wife who disappeared. On his journey he encounters a woman who wants to bury her steppe wolf in the north of the country. Sergi Lopez and Vanessa Paradis are in the starring roles along with Florence Thomassin. Kreuter also wrote the screenplay. The love story is still shooting till mid-December in and around Dubai, and will be released by Alfama Films in France and Clap Filmes in Portugal. The former also handles international sales.
Michael Haneke is currently preparing the shoot of his latest film Love, for which he also wrote the screenplay. Shooting on this French-German co-production will kick off in February with Isabelle Huppert, Jean-Louis Trintignant and Emmanuelle Riva among the leading cast. Margaret Menegoz and Stephen Arndt are producing for Les Films du Losange and X-Filme Creative Pool respectively. The drama is budgeted at $9.9m with the French region Ile-de-France providing financial backing. International sales are handled by Les Films du Losange.
A Spanish journalist who tries to mend his relationship with his dying father, a former fighter in the Spanish Civil War, is at the centre of Roland Joffe’s action drama There Be Dragons, which is currently in post-production for a spring 2011 release. Joffe wrote the script and also co-produces alongside Guy Louthan, Ignacio Gomez Sancha and Ignacio Nunez for Motive Entertainment, Antena 3 Films and Mount Santa Fe Espana. Dougray Scott, Olga Kurylenko, Charlie Cox, Rodrigo Santoro and Wes Bentley are among the cast in this $36m production, which Aurum Producciones will release in Spain next year.
