Lorenzo di Bonaventura and his Di Bonaventura Pictures have signed a deal with bestselling author Michael Scott to adapt Scott’s young adult six-part fantasy series The Secrets Of The Immortal Nicholas Flamel.

Di Bonaventura will produce the series with Scott and Barry Krost serving as executive producers. The stories centre on 15-year-old twins Sophie and Josh as they journey across continents with the immortal alchemist Nicholas Flamel.

The Alchemyst, The Magician and The Sorceress, the first three titles in the series, are currently available in 37 countries and 20 languages. The fourth book, The Necromancer, will be published in May 2010.

“Michael’s fantastic series is a natural evolution from Harry Potter,” di Bonaventura said.

“I am tremendously excited with Lorenzo’s passion and enthusiasm for this series,” Scott added. “I am convinced he is the right person to bring these stories to life,” said Michael Scott.

Di Bonaventura’s most recent credits include GI Joe: The Rise Of Cobra, Transformers:  Revenge Of The Fallen, and the upcoming Salt starring Angelina Jolie and Liev Schreiber.
