Production is due to get underway this week in Connecticut on the psychological thriller We Need To Talk About Kevin by Lynne Ramsay.

Ramsay’s first film in eight years since Morvern Callar stars Tilda Swinton, John C Reilly and Ezra Miller and is presented by BBC Films and the UK Film Council in association with Footprint Investments, Caemhan Partnership and Lipsync Productions.

The film is an Independent and Jennifer Fox production in association with Artina Films and Forward Films and Independent is handling international sales. Fox produces with Luc Roeg and Bob Salerno.

Ramsay and Rory Kinnear adapted the screenplay from the novel by Lionel Shriver about a woman who is forced to question her competence as a mother after her teenager goes on a horrific rampage two days before his 16th birthday.

Steven Soderbergh, BBC Films’ creative director Christine Langan, Paula Jalfon, Christopher Figg, Robert Whitehouse, Michael Robinson, Norman Merry, Lisa Lambert, Swinton and Ramsay serve as executive producers. Langan and Paula Jalfon developed the project.
