Paramount Pictures and Pathé announced that principal photography has commenced in the US South on the Martin Luther King Civil Rights drama Selma starringn

Ava DuVernay directs from a screenplay by Paul Webb, with Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner producing through Plan B, Christian Colson through Cloud Eight Films and Oprah Winfrey through Harpo Films.

DuVernay, Paul Garnes, Cameron McCracken and Nan Morales are the executive producers.

The film is shooting in Atlanta, Georgia, and Montgomery and Selma, Alabama, and charts King’s fight to secure the equal right to vote.

Paramount will release in the US and Pathé will distribute directly in the UK and France. Pathé Intnerational will handles sales.

Carmen Ejogo, Tom Wilkinson, Andre Holland, Omar J Dorsey, Tessa Thompson and Colman Domingo star.
