Sigourney Weaver has joined Alicia Silverstone and Krysten Ritter on Amy Heckerling’s Vamps.

Production is scheduled to commence in May on the story of two carefree vampires living in New York who have to make a decision that could jeopardise their immortality.

Weaver will play Ciccerus, a bloodthirsty “stem” vampire who has created a dynasty and turned the young girls into vampires.

Red Hour Films, Lucky Monkey Pictures’ Lauren Versel and Molly Hassell are producing, and Julie Kroll and Maria Teresa Arida are among the executive producers.

Heckerling rose to fame when she directed Fast Times At Ridgemont Highand Look Who’s Talking, and directed Silverstone in Clueless.

Lisa Wilson’s GK Films affiliate Parlay Films is handling international sales.

Weaver’s upcoming films include Universal Pictures and Working Title’s comedy Paul with Simon Pegg, Seth Rogen and Jason Bateman, Andy Fickman’s comedy You Again alongside Jamie Lee Curtis and Kristen Bell, and the comedy Cedar Rapidswith John C Reilly, Anne Heche and Ed Helms.
