The New York independent film scene is losing a familiar name but not the people behind it as Ted Hope, Anne Carey and Diana Victor call it a day on their production company This Is That.

The partners are vacating their New York offices this week [30] after other producers with whom they shared the building left the space to save money on overheads.

Hope and Carey, who most recently produced Toronto acquisition Super and The American, (pictured) respectively, will continue to collaborate and pursue separate projects and are taking their assistants with them. Victor is pursuing new opportunities.

The This Is That name will appear on previously arranged projects, such as the upcoming adaptation of Joshua Ferris’ novel Then We Came To The End that Lynn Shelton (Humpday) will direct and is set up at Focus Features.

This Is That’s storied roster of credits includes 21 Grams, Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, Adventureland, The Savages, Thumbsucker and Friends With Money.

“The type of movies we made are not getting made as frequently as they used to,” Hope said. “We still want to keep making movies together and that means keeping our overheads as low as possible.”

“We will also make our own movies,” Carey said, “once we get through all the films we are still planning on doing together.”
