StudioCanal to partner with Disney Nordic to distribute adaptation of The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared.

StudioCanal is to handle international sales on Felix Herngren’s The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared.

The film is an adaptation of Swedish author Jonas Jonasson’s bestseller of the same name.

It centres on Allan Karlsson, a spritely old man who has lived an extraordinary life and escapes from his nursing home ahead of his 100th birthday celebrations. He embarks on an unexpected adventure that includes a suitcase of cash, criminals and an elephant.

Disney Nordic will distribute in Scandinavia on December 25; Wild Bunch will release in Benelux; and TeleMunchen has Germany and Austria.

StudioCanal has picked up distribution for the UK, France and Australia, and will sell the rest of the world.

The book has been published in more than 35 countries and sold more than 5 million copies.

For the film, Swedish director Herngren has a cast that includes popular Swedish comedian Robert Gustafsson, Mia Skäringer, Johan Rheborg and Alan Ford.

The film is produced by Henrik Jansson-Schweizer, Patrick Nebout, Felix Herngren and Malte Forssell for Nice FLX Pictures.

StudioCanal will begin sales at Cannes.
