The step daughter of actor Mark Rylance had attended the London Film School.

Budding young film-maker Nataasha van Kampen – the step daughter of actor Mark Rylance - has died, aged 28 of “unsuspected natural causes”.

The young film-maker started out at 16 working for Sky Television, before going on to attend the London Film School, where she made the short film Nocturne, about insomnia, in 2009, which starred Rylance. The film went on to screen at the London Young Film-makers Festival.

She had also worked as a production designer on commercials and music videos and was hoping to make the break into feature films.

Rylance had been due to recite a passage from The Tempest at the London Olympics’ opening ceremony on 27 July but has pulled out as a result of her death. He is about to star in the title role in a new London theatre production of Richard III.

His statement read: “Our beloved daughter and sister Nataasha passed away of unsuspected natural causes early on Sunday morning.”
