London-based visual effects company Cinesite has been awarded a major contract for work on Fox’s X-Men First Class.

Cinesite has assigned Matt Johnson as visual effects supervisor on the film, with Anthony Zwartou as CG supervisor. John Dykstra (Inglourious Basterds, Spider-Man) serves as visual effects supervisor on the production.

The X-Men prequel, directed by Matthew Vaughn, will be launched in June 2011. Cinesite’s work on the production will start soon.

Antony Hunt, managing director of Cinesite, said: “This is the fourth film in the X-Men franchise that Cinesite has worked on. We’re very proud of our strong relationship with Fox, for whom we’re also currently working alongside Walden Media on The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.”

Cinesite, which is owned by Kodak, is also working on projects including Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows: Part 1, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, John Carter of Mars, Battle: Los Angeles and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
