Film Agency for Wales announces production funding

 The Film Agency for Wales will invest $675,000 in four Welsh feature films as part of its latest round of production funding.  

Dave McKean’s Port Talbot Passion is to receive $198,000 (£125,000). The film, starring Michael Sheen, is based around the National Theatre of Wales’ biblical themed play Passion. It is being produced by Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives producer Keith Griffiths.

 Principal photography will coincide with the staging of Passion in April 2011 in Port Talbot, Wales.

Also receiving funding is Welsh born writer/director Jon Jones untitled feature directorial debut. The project, which is to be produced by Adrian Sturges and Paul Webster for Kudos Pictures, will receive $238,000 (£150,000) from the Film Agency for Wales.

Janine Marmot’s Hot Property Films is to get $79,0000 (£50,000) for Kelly and Victor. Natalie Press and Harry Treadaway are attached to the film, which is being written by Welsh born writer/director Kieran Evans together with writer Niall Griffiths, from his novel of the same name. Janine Marmot will produce with Andrew Freedman with principal photography due to begin in June 2011.

Finally, Welsh based writer Philip Ralph and Swansea born director, Krishnendu Majumdar will receive $159,000 (£100,000) for the production of their feature film, Deepcut.

The film is being produced by Revolution Films, with Michael Winterbottom as executive producer. Shooting is expected to take place in Summer 2011.
