Vision+Media, Screen Yorkshire and Northern Film & Media have teamed on ‘Triangle’.

The initiative, supported by Skillset through the Film Skills Fund, is a six-month mentoring initiative aimed at fostering collaboration between directors, producers and writers.

After a selection process that will run throughout the programme the remaining teams will pitch the best projects to an industry panel in June 2011 at the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

Triangle is open to all filmmakers based in Yorkshire and Humber, the North West and North East of England.

60-80 participants will be selected to take part in a launch day (dates are tbc) that will incorporate masterclasses, networking and advice on teambuilding.

Applications for the scheme will be accepted from 13th December to 7th January.

Hugo Heppell, head of production at Screen Yorkshire, who will head up the initiative, says: “There are never guarantees in creative collaboration, but we hope that teams will come together that can not only make a feature film together but can go on to establish as enduring a working relationship as that of Andrew Eaton, Michael Winterbottom and Frank Cottrell Boyce, or as we are seeing develop between Shane Meadows and Mark Herbert. The UK film industry punches above its weight due to the creativity of such partnerships and this scheme will be a catalyst to increase such relationships across the North.”
