Oscar-winning film producer David Puttnam will judge The Young Filmmaker Competition on behalf of the Transformation Trust, which celebrates its first anniversary next month.
As a trustee of the charity, which is currently funding projects for over one hundred of the least-advantaged schools across the country, Puttnam will be judging each of the ninety-second films on the subject of how their new school has changed, or will change, the lives of their friends, teachers and their community.
The winning filmmakers will receive their awards at the O2 where a string of musical acts have been booked including rap artist Tinchy Stryder and The Saturdays. As an extra prize, the students behind the Grand Prix film will get a week’s work experience with award-winning production company JM Creative. The awards will be presented by five-time Olympic gold medalist Sir Steve Redgrave in his role as Gleeds Ambassador.
David Bell, Chairman of the Transformation Trust, said “These competitions are a unique way of showcasing the creativity and individual talents of students across the country and are a great opportunity to establish a new identity for the Trust created by the young people who are benefiting from it.”
