Sir Roger Moore has joined new Luxembourg-managed/UK-based Red Carpet Film Fund as Chairman of the Board.

The first project to come out of the fund will be Causeway Picture’s Connemara Days, to be directed by Kevin Connor, which is due to commence principle photography in Ireland in late August.

Set on the west coast of Ireland in 1951 when John Ford was shooting The Quiet Man, the film will star Moore himself, along with Sarah Bolger, Stacy Keach, Geraldine Chapin and Judy Cornwell.

Park Circus will be handling UK distribution, with other territories sales being negotiated in Cannes by producers Chris Patterson, Gareth Owen, Terry Bamber and Paddy McCarney.

The Red Carpet fund will invest in a number of features by blending development finance with production equity investment, cash-flowing of tax breaks and pre-sales, gap financing and short term bridge financing.

Moore will join board members producer Richard Holmes, production executive Terry Bamber, visual effects co-ordinator Ilyas Kaduji, producer Richard Holmes, production executive Terry Bamber and respected film lawyer Richard Moxon.

“I am thrilled to be involved with this fund as I have always greatly enjoyed the creative side of pulling projects together. I believe the fund is quite unique in that it will invest considerably in development as well as production equity, enabling us to focus on bringing some great scripts to the screen,” said Moore.
