UK director Vicky Jewson is due to go into pre-production in October on her second feature, a gritty action thriller called Born Of War.

Jewson, whose first film was the 2008 romantic comedy Lady Godiva, describes her latest project as “Jason Bourne meets Run Lola Run”. The film will shoot in Oxford, London and Morocco.

Rupert Whitaker is producing the project, which will shoot for under $1.5m (£1m). The pair plan to show a six-minute teaser to distributors and sales agents at the BFI this month.

“In the middle of a recession it is vital to provide a business model that works for the continuation of our UK film industry. By keeping our budgets low and by being more creative we are able to create an exciting and promising package for our investors,” said Jewson.
