The renowned Brazilian musician, actor, writer and artist will select a series of films for the 38th annual festival in Colorado, set to run from Sept 2-5.

Festival directors Tom Luddy, Gary Meyer and Julie Huntsinger said that in keeping with the festival’s tradition for secrecy, Veloso’s selections would be announced along with the rest of the line-up on the Sept 2 opening day.

Previous guest directors include Alexander Payne, Salman Rushdie, Peter Bogdanovich, Errol Morris, Bertrand Tavernier, John Boorman and Stephen Sondheim.
