David Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method and Pedro Almodovar’s The Skin I Live In have been added as special galas to the festival, which runs from Sept 30-Oct 16.
“We’re delighted to be welcoming David Cronenberg to the festival for the first time and to be welcoming back one of the NYFF’s closest friends, Pedro Almodovar,” Richard Peña, The Film Society Of Lincoln Center’s selection committee chair and programme director said.
“It’s a special pleasure to introduce our audiences to exciting new work by two of contemporary cinema’s most challenging artists.”
A Dangerous Method will screen on Oct 5 and stars Michael Fassbender and Viggo Mortensen as the psychoanalysts Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud who become obsessed with a patient, played by Keira Knightly. It is set to receive its world premiere in Venice and will open through SPC in the US on Nov 23.
The Skin I Live In will play on Oct 12 and stars Antonia Banderas as a plastic surgeon with a sinister project. Elena Anaya also stars. The film premiered in Cannes and SPC will release in the US on Oct 14.
