Top brass at the Middle East International Film Festival (MEIFF) have unveiled the selections that will screen out of competition in the World Cinema Showcase line-up next month.

Titles include Middle East premieres of Lee Daniels’ Sundance hit Precious, which screened in Toronto recently, as well as UK crime saga Red Riding Trilogy by Julian Jarrold, James Marsh and Anand Tucker.

The line-up includes Middle East premieres of the Romanian portmanteau Tales From The Golden Age, R J Cutler’s The September Issue, Anders Hosbro Ostergard’s Burma VJ, Christian Carion’s Farewell, Goran Paskaljevic’s Honeymoons, Ranjith’s Kerala Café, Alain Resnais’ Wild Grass, Matt Tyrnauer’s Valentino: The Last Emperor, Ciro Guerra’s The Wind Journeys, and Nobuhiro Suwa and Hippolyte Girardot’s Yuki & Nina.

Mohamed Soueid’s My Heart Beats Only For Her receives its international premiere, while Hayao Miyazaki’s Ponyo On The Cliff and Asghar Farhadi’s About Elly are Gulf premieres.

The full program of all festival sections of the festivall will be announced shortly. The event runs in Abu Dhabi from October 8-17.
