Mike Flanagan’s horror film Absentia earned best narrative feature honours as the 14th Annual Sonoma International Film Festival came to a close at the weekend.
The documentary prize went to The Search For Michael Rockefeller by Fraser Clarke Heston. In the audience awards the documentary Darwin produced by Nick Brandestini, Sandra Ruch and Taylor Segrest was selected as Festival Favorite.
“What started out as a film festival that hosted great parties has grown into a festival where the films equal our wine country hospitality,” festival director Kevin McNeely said.
The event ran from Apr 6-10 and screened 90 films including 28 documentaries and 17 narrative features. Susan Sarandon received a tribute and the lifetime achievement award.
