Kazik Radwanski’s short film Princess Margaret Boulevard picked up the top prize at the UK’s Encounters Short Film Festival in Bristol on November 21.

The award carried a cash prize of $5,000 (£3,000).

The film, about an Alzheimer’s sufferer, was also named best international short at this year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival in June.

Laurie Hill was presented with the best of British award for his animated short Photograph Of Jesus, winning a cash prize of $1,700 (£1,000).

The festival’s two awards supporting talent from the UK’s South-West region - the South-West jury award and the South-West audience award - both went to Bristol-based film-making duo Tom Stubbs and Michael Smith for their short Light And Dark. They won a cash prize of $1,700 (£1,000) for each award.

Luke Doolan’s black comedy Miracle Fish won the UK Film Council audience award.

The 15th Encounters festival ran from November 17-21 at Bristol’s Watershed Media Centre.
