Julia Roberts will collect the Donostia lifetime acheievement award at this year’s San Sebastian film festival where she will also be promoting her new film Eat Pray Love, which will feature in official selection.

Roberts has enjoyed a hugely successful acting career for more than 20 years, winning an Oscar in 2000 for her performance in Steven Soderbergh’s Erin Brokovich. She now joins a long list of illustrious film-makers and actors who have won the Donostia award over the years, including Francis Ford Coppola, Al Pacino and Woody Allen.


The actress will be at San Sebastian on Sept 20 to collect the award and assist with the promotion of her latest film Eat Pray Love, directed by Ryan Murphy, which will be in official selection, out of Competition, at the festival.

The film, which also stars leading Spanish actor Javier Bardem, sees Roberts play a married woman who decides to take her life in a different direction by travelling around the world on a journey of self discovery.

San Sebastian will run Sept 17-25.
