India’s National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) has unveiled the 18 projects that will take part in this year’s Film Bazaar co-production market, including seven projects from other South Asian nations.

The selection of projects from member nations of SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation) marks a first for Film Bazaar which has previously focused on Indian projects. Projects in this category include one each from Bangladeshi directors Golam Rabbany Biplob and Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, along with projects from Afghanistan, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Nepal.

Indian projects in the line-up include Shanghai, to be directed by Dibakar Banerjee (Love, Sex Aur Dhoka) and Ajitpal Singh’s The Little Man, to be co-produced by Germany’s Rapid Eye Movies (see full list below).

Film Bazaar, which is entering its fourth edition this year, also features the second part of Screenwriters’ Lab, held in partnership with Binger FilmLab and the Locarno Film Festival, a Work-in-Progress Lab and the PRIMEXCHANGE co-production workshop organised by Germany’s Primehouse.

This year the market will be expanded to feature market screenings, for both 2D and 3D movies, which are being organised in collaboration with digital cinema provider UFO Moviez.

Film Bazaar’s Knowledge Series features a master class from Turkish-German filmmaker Fatih Akin with an introduction by Anurag Kashyap along with case studies and presenatations by industry experts. In addition, international film festival directors will be on hand to interact with attendees.

Guests registered to attend the market include international buyers and sales agents such as Cinetic Rights Management, Fortissimo Films, Wide Management, Hanway Films and Wild Bunch.

Film Bazaar will be held Nov 23-26 at the Marriott Resort, Goa, alongside the International Film Festival of India.
