Germany's Kirch Media has unveiled the creation of a new internet platform which will be jointly owned with KirchPayTV and affiliated broadcasters Pro Sieben, Sat 1 Media and DSF.

The various channels are expected to support the internet start-up with free advertising of up to $250m.

News Corp's TM3 could also join the venture if its widely rumoured sale to Kirch Media goes ahead. News Corp, which recently received clearance to acquire the 34% of TM3 it did not already own, has announced plans to relaunch the channel on November 11. The revamped channel will focus on interactive programming, linked to cell phones and the world wide web, which will allow viewers to access purchase options and supplementary information.
