Miramax Films has acquired the North American, Latin American, and German distribution rights to Stephen Frears's Mrs. Henderson Presents.

Starring Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins, Mrs. Henderson Presents is a Pathe Pictures-BBC Films production written by Martin Sherman and produced through Heyman-Hoskins Productions by Norma Heyman, and executive produced by Bob Hoskins and David Aukin.

Mrs. Henderson Presents tells the story of an eccentric wealthy widow who buys a London theatre on the eve of World War II and turns it into the legendary home of nude revues, The Windmill.

Harvey Weinstein stated, "After our successful collaborations on The Grifters, The Snapper, and most recently Dirty Pretty Things, we are excited to be distributing Stephen Frears's Mrs. Henderson Presents. Dame Judi Dench has been wonderful to work with over the years and we are honoured to be in business with her again as well as to be partnering with Norma Heyman and David Aukin, who are both incredibly well-regarded producers."

"This film is very special and we had tremendous interest from many of the American distribution companies but decided that Miramax's successful relationship with Stephen Frears, Dame Judi Dench, and Pathe made them the best choice to distribute this film," said MD of Pathe UK, Francois Ivernel.

Norma Heyman added, "We have been brilliantly looked after by Pathe from the very start of Mrs. Henderson, and are now thrilled to be embraced by the unassailable Harvey Weinstein and his team."

Agnes Mentre, executive vice president of acquisitions and co-productions, and Eric Roth, senior vice president of business and legal affairs, negotiated the agreement on behalf of Miramax. Pathe's deputy managing director Cameron McCracken and head of Pathe Pictures International Alison Thompson, together with attorney Bob Darwell, negotiated on behalf of Pathe.
