The fact that Viggo Mortensen is half Danish paid off this weekend as he easily raced Hidalgo into the top spot in front of Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.

Despite only having 19 prints, Hidalgo's impressive screen average was more than twice that of the sequel's high 50 prints.

Surprisingly the directing debut from acclaimed actress Paprika Steen, Aftermath (Lad de smaa boern') only made it into fifth after both Villa Paranoia and Something's Gotta Give. Its 37 prints only attracted 12,887 admissions in its first weekend, no doubt in part because it divided the critics from rave to fair reviews.
