Elan Closs Stephens has joined the board of the new Film Agency for Wales.

She was present for the Film Agency's first meeting of the Film Education Forum, to encourage the education sector to work together to encourage film education. Cross Stephens also chaired an open consultation about the Agency's revised strategic vision in context of the UK-wide Film Education Strategy Review.

'As a Film Agency, we must engage with the public and with education,' she said. 'We should consider collateral partnerships and develop a strategy that takes advantage of the new initiatives that already exist and the opportunities that lay ahead.'

Cross Stephens is currently a Professor of Communications and Creative Industries in the Department of Theatre, Film and Television at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. She is also a governor of the British Film Institute and chairs the advisory committee of the British Council in Wales.
