Participants are being invited to submit a treatment with a strong Swiss connection, with the winner being named at the Zurich Film Festival.

The Zurich Film Festival is launching a new screenwriting competition, in conjunction with SRF Radio and Telepool Zurich.

The competition, which invites authors to submit a feature length film or TV treatment with a strong link to Switzerland (either content based, character based or production based), carries a $5,150 (CHF5,000) award and a development prize worth up to $26,000 (CHF25,000).

The closing date for entries is August 1.

A three-person jury will judge the submitted treatments and will choose finalists who will be invited to attend the Zurich Film Festival’s Master Class Script Day. At the end of the day, they will be asked to pitch their treatments to the jury who will select the winner.

The prize will be awarded at the Zurich Film Festival’s Award night at the Zurich Opera House on October 5.

The 2013 edition of the festival will run September 26 to October 6.
