Fireworks Pictures closed a host of international sales on its effects-driven action film Coronado at AFM including deals with Manga in Spain, Scanbox in Scandinavia, Europa in Brazil and RCV in Benelux.

The film was written and produced by Volker Engel and Marc Weigert, partners in the production company Uncharted Territory and special effects experts who have credits including Independence Day (for which Engel won an Oscar).

Boasting 600 special effects shots, the film stars Kristin Dattilo as a woman who finds herself in the heart of the Central American jungle in the midst of a revolution while searching for her missing fiance (Michael Lowry).

Fireworks Pictures president Daniel Diamond also sold the film to Blitz in Croatia/Slovenia, AQS in the Chech and Slovak Republics, Audio Visual in Greece, Myndform in Iceland, PT Amero in Indonesia, Vision in Poland, LNK in Portugal, Soyuz in CIS, Silverton in Singapore, Warner Nu Metro in South Africa, Aqua Pinema in Turkey, Noah Communication in Israel, Almassa in Middle East and Montri in Thailand.

"These deals signal the tremendous interest in this project from all areas of the international marketplace," said Diamond in a statement. "Volker Engel and Marc Weigert have elevated the use of special effects to a new level with Coronado and the response is indicative of the film's quality and audience potential."
