Regional broadcaster StarGroup's content arm, Fortune Star, has acquired 100 library titles from Hong Kong's China Star Entertainment Group, in a deal valued at $18m.

Most of the titles wereproduced in the past five years by China Star production subsidiaries OneHundred Years of Film, China Star Pictures and S&W.

The library includesaward-winning titles such as Johnnie To's RunningOn Karma and Lost In Time,directed by Derek Yee, and box office hits LoveOn A Diet, Needing You and Okinawa Rendez-vous.

Star Group's Star ChineseMovies channel also has an output deal with China Star for new titles which wasrenewed for another five years in August 2005.

The library titles acquiredunder this separate deal will also screen on Star Chinese Movies, which hasdistribution in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Singapore and the Philippines, and will be sold by Fortune Star'sinternational sales team at upcoming markets.

Fortune Star already had oneof the world's biggest Chinese film libraries before this new acquisition with 600titles produced by Golden Harvest and other studios and featuring the earlyworks of Jackie Chan, Michelle Yeoh and Jet Li.

At Cannes this year, the company licensed a swathe of titlesto The Weinstein Company's new Asian video label Dragon Dynasty.
