New Producers Alliance hit by declining membership and competition for training provision.

The New Producers Alliance (NPA), which was set up in 1993 to provide support and training to members of the British film industry, is closing down.

The organisation said that the recession and increased competition for training provision had contributed to a loss of membership income, which had left them with no option but to close.

The NPA, which was co-chaired by Anita Lewton and Tony Allen, had up to 1000 members at its peak. Its CEO, David Pope, resigned in February.

In a statement, the organisation said: “It is with great regret that the trustees and directors announce that the NPA ceased trading as of March 8, 2010. We would like to thank our members as well asthe many companies, organisations and individuals who have supported the NPA in the past.”
