Paramount Home Entertainment France and Gaumont Video have signed an accord which will see the former release the French major's films in the French DVD sector.

Paramount's Luigi-Theo Calabrese said the partnership should allow the duo to 'pass the 10% market share bar for France.' No specific duration was indicated for the deal.

'In a more and more sensitive market, Gaumont Video needed a distributor who shares the same vision and who more than ever supports its quality editorial strategy,' said Nicolas de la Mothe, director of Gaumont Video.

The partnership is part of Gaumont's redeployment strategy as the company attempts to position itself as one of the top producer/distributors in France, noted Gaumont chief Sidonie Dumas.

Gaumont's catalogue boasts 800 films while Paramount's has 9,000.
