Have all film critics and journalists gone bananas overnight?
First off, Wild Bunch cut a topless scene from a probably rather dull, Stalinesque thought provoking Russian movie?? Noway. They'd be more likely to add a topless scene.
Secondly, if they've actually told a director to cut said, probably very boring, Russian movie from 3 hours to 2 hours, good for them. Film Companies are supposed to make money you know. They are suppose to try and get the public to go to the cinema and pay to see a film, and unless you have an interval as in the good old days, very few women can sit through 3 hours of Russian with sub titles. Say no ore on that subject.
Thirdly, I do not believe for one minute Wild Bunch did not take the Director' ideas and wishes into account. Give them some credit, they love directors and usually let them get away with er..er....revolutionary murder... rememeber that one which they didn't cut for Cannes.
