Teresa Moneo, former senior vice president of production at Miramax in London, has joined Spanish film distributor Aurum as co-managing director.

She will work alongside Javier Gracia, Aurum's former subdirector of administration and finance, who has been promoted to co-managing director. Moneo and Gracia will both travel to Cannes with the company, arriving May 15.

"I am truly delighted to be given the opportunity to work in the Spanish industry from such a solid platform as Aurum, and I look forward to advancing Aurum's strategic goals," Spanish native Moneo said in a statement.

During her tenure at Miramax, Moneo was responsible for acquiring titles such as Roberto Benigni's Oscar-winning Life Is Beautiful and Alejandro Amenabar's The Others, and was an executive producer on Stephen Frears's latest film, Dirty Pretty Things.

Aurum was Spain's leading independent distributor in 2002, thanks to the success of its Lord Of The Rings titles which were both among the top five grossing films in Spain last year. Forthcoming releases include Spanish comedy Slam from Morena Films, The In-Laws, Godsend and The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King.
