Tatsumi (Tom) Yoda has been named chairman of the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF). The announcement was made at the monthly board of director's meeting of the Motion Picture Producers Association of Japan (Eiren). Yoda will chair the 21st edition for an unspecified term.

Yoda holds many powerful public and private sector positions in the media industry. He is the CEO and largest shareholder of movie and media conglomerate GAGA Communications, CEO of Dreamusic and co-Founder of Filosophia Entertainment Alliance Inc.

Also, he currently serves on the board of directors of the Japan Association for International Promotion of Moving Images (UniJapan) and the Foreign Film Importer-Distributors Association of Japan. Yoda is also holds the position of Director at the Japan Video Software Association (JVA).

Previous TIFF chairman and Kadokawa CEO Tsuguhiko Kadokawa held the position for the past five editions, seeing the event through to its 20th anniversary this year, also the inaugural year of the 18-event Japan International Contents Festival (CoFesta). Yoda was appointed Deputy Chairperson of Executive Committee for CoFesta in May of this year.
