Cinema Extreme, the short film initiative from FilmFour and the UK Film Council's New Cinema Fund, is taking applications for its new funding round.

Up to $92,447 (£50,000) will be awarded to the selected short film projects. Those accepted go through a development programme.

The scheme's first two years backed nine films, including Andrea Arnold's Oscar-winning Wasp.The last funding round supported Miranda Bowen'sHoneymoon, Simon Ellis's Soft, Chris and Ben Blaine's Hallo Panda, Martin Radich's Dog's Mercury, and Gaelle Denis and Sibel Armutcu's After the Rain.

Production companies The Bureau and Lifesize Picturesadminister the scheme. Applications are accepted through Sept 8 and more information is available at The Bureau's website.
