42nd Street Productions, a sales and production offshoot of German mini-conglomerate Das Werk, may have hit paydirt with Berlinale Panorama film Food Of Love.

The relationship movie is the first English-language picture by Spanish director Ventura Pons, whose previous credits include Anita Takes A Chance (Anita No Perd El Tren).

42nd Street has closed deals for the film with Denmark's Ost For Paradies, Taiwan's Crown Films and buyers in Hong Kong and Sweden.

Company boss Thomas Spieker said the firm is in discussions for the US with buyers including Sony Pictures Classics and Strand Releasing. He hopes to close US and UK deals by the end of next week's American Film Market.

In the film's German home market, where co-producer FFP Entertainment is the rights holder, a theatrical deal is close to being secured. Spieker reports that broadcasters ZDF and Degeto are already chasing down the film.
