Continuing with its global expansion plans, Adlabs Films, part of the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, is set to acquire a majority and controlling interest in Malaysia's Lotus Five Star Cinemas.

As per the agreement, Adlabs will operate the 51 screen cinema chain in Malaysia. The cinemas will be programmed with a mix of mainstream Hollywood, Chinese, Malay and Indian-language (especially Hindi and Tamil) movies.

Anil Arjun, senior vice president, Reliance ADAG said: 'This acquisition will strengthen Adlabs Cinemas' international presence. In addition to Malaysia, our international network comprises 220 screens in the US and also Mauritius and Nepal.'

Adlabs Cinemas presently has 160 screens across India and is considered one of the leading exhibitors in the country. Reliance ADAG's entertainment group, Reliance Entertainment, has interests in film production, TV content and animation, film processing and services, domestic and international distribution of content and exhibition.
