New French sales outfit Funny Balloons has picked up Latin American rights to Berlin competition film Triple Agent by Eric Rohmer and sold a raft of territories from its Berlin-AFM slate.

Triple Agent - a period thriller shot almost entirely in interiors - is brought to market in other territories by Wild Bunch.

Funny Balloons, headed by former TVOR executive Pape Boye and Peter Danner, is seeking to build a slate of 8-10 low-to-medium titles, building to 14-15 in its second year. Longer term it will handle television sales on a number of film libraries and expand into co-production and co-financing.

Smartly, it picked up Aaltra, the hottest film to emerge from the Rotterdam festival, and did solid business at last week's European Film Market in Berlin. There it sold the film to Mont-Blanc Distribution for Switzerland, Babilla Cine for Colombia & Ecuador and Independenta Film for Romania. The black-humoured road movie about wheelchair users by Benoit Delepine and Gustave Kervern is also the subject of advanced negotiations concerning the UK, US, Spain and Germany.

Funny Balloons' Les Fautes D'Orthographe by Jean-Jacques Zilbermann was also pre-sold to Les Films De L'Elysee for Belgium, Babilla for Colombia & Ecuador and Independenta for Romania.
