Historian and journalist Alex Ben Block has been named director of programming for The American Pavilion at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

He will develop and oversee all programming for the Pavilion, while also moderating panels, conducting interviews and leading discussions with critics. He reports to Julie Sisk who is founder and director of the Pavilion, which is now in its 20th year as a base for American attendees at Cannes.

Block is a former editor of The Hollywood Reporter and Television Week, was associate editor at Forbes Magazine and is currently senior columnist for Hollywood Today.
