Los Angeles- and London-based Altadena Films has taken on sales for A Necessary Death, written and directed by Daniel Stamm and produced by Brian Udovich (The Wackness, All The Boys Love Mandy Lane) and GJ Echternkamp.
The completed film is screening during AFM; it world premiered at SXSW and will also screen Saturday and Sunday at the AFI Fest.
The cast features Gilbert John, Matt Tilley, Valerie Hurt, Michael Traynor, Komina Parkinson-Jones and Daniel Stamm. Mali Finn helped to cast the project.
The story follows a film student who wants to make a documentary about suicidal individuals. He finds a 24-year-old man with a brain tumour who wants to end his life -- but the film is put in jeopardy when the young man's plans get more complicated.
Stamm is also in pre-production on his next second feature, again a collaboration with cinematographer Zoltan Honti.
