Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's commercial and critical success Love's A Bitch (Amores Perros) has nabbed 15 nominations for the upcoming 43rd annual Ariel Awards, Mexico's Oscars.

Nominations for the Altavista Films production include best picture, best director, best actor, best cinematography, best original screenplay and best directorial debut. Gonzalez Inarritu's three-story drama, a best foreign Oscar nominee this year, goes up against Marisa Sistach's Perfume De Violetas and Felipe Cazals' Su Alteza Serenisima which have garnered 12 and 11 nods, respectively.

Best actor nominees are Gael Garcia Bernal (Amores Perros), Bruno Bichir (Cronica De Un Desayuno), Alejandro Parodi (Su Alteza Serenisima). Best actress nominees include Ana Ofelia Murguia (Escrita En El Cuerpo De La Noche), Ximena Ayala (Perfume De Violetas) and Ana Bertha Espin (Su Alteza Serenisima).

A 23-member panel led by the Mexican Academy of Arts and Sciences will select the winners, which will be announced in a ceremony at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City on May 28.

Amores Perros has grossed more than $13m world-wide and garnered up to 30 top honours from international festivals. It was released by Lions Gate Films in North America four weeks ago and as of April 22, had grossed $2,190,049 from 171 screens in the US.
