Buenos Aires-based Sun Distribution Group has acquired all Latin American rights to Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's (Amores Perros) first English-language film, 21 Grams, starring Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro and Naomi Watts.

The 18 month old distribution company has also snagged Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, with Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet. Both films fall under a sub distribution deal Sun has entered with UIP.

Sun Distribution has jointly acquired all Latin American rights with Brazil's Consorcio Europa and Mexico's Videocine for some titles including : Lions Gate' Confidence, New Line's How to Deal, Cobalt Pictures' Shade and Screen Gems/Senator's Boogeyman.

The company also secured all Latin rights with Consorcio Europa to Luc Besson's Danny The Doll, starring Jet Li, Morgan Freeman and Bob Hoskins, and MGM's Out Of Time, starring Denzel Washington and Eva Mendez.

Sun Distribution made a splash at the AFM last year, bidding against more established rivals for high profile films on offer.

Led by CEO Diego Halabi, Sun Distribution includes brothers Sebastian and Tomas Darcyl whose 40-year old family-owned company Telefilms Argentina is the largest independent television distributor in Latin America.
