AcclaimedArgentinian director and writer Eduardo Mignogna died October 8 of cancer in BuenosAires. He was 66.

Mignogna shoteight multi-awarded feature films and was also a published writer and arenowned TV director.

Autumn Sun (Sol de Otono), TheEscape (La Fuga), Cleopatra, The Lighthouse (El Faro), Flop and mostrecently The Wind (El Viento) wereall critical and commercial successes in Argentina and also in foreignterritories, especially in France and Spain.

Mignogna had along-term relationship with the Spanish film industry, which financed some ofhis films. He was a regular at San Sebastian and Valladolid film festivals andwon three Goya Awards for The Escape,Autumn Sun and The Lighthouse.

The talentedfilmmaker was about to start shooting at the end of October his new film,called The Signal (La Senal), withRicardo Darin, Andrea Pietra and Julieta Diaz.

His last film, The Wind, starring Federico Luppi andAntonella Costa, was released in Argentina in August 2005.
