Mark L Lester's American World Pictures (AWP) has acquired worldwide distribution rights to Polish biopic Chopin: Desire For Love and international rights to US ensemble The Anarchist Cookbook. The films will be screened for buyers at MIFED for the first time.

Chopin: Desire For Love stars Danuta Stenka and Piotr Adamczyk and features classical performers on the soundtrack including Yo-Yo Ma, Yukiko Yokoyama and Emanuel Ax. It follows the doomed love affair between Chopin and the writer George Sand. Jerzy Antczak wrote and directed the film, and co-produced with Pawel Rakowski. Todd Olsson, executive vice president of acquisitions and distribution at AWP, brokered the deal for the film with the producers.

The Anarchist Cookbook stars Gina Phillips, Devon Gummersal, Dylan Bruno, John Savage and Katharin Towne in the story of a man (Gummersal) who lives in semi-slacker party mode with his fellow Anarchists until Bruno arrives to push the limits of anarchy.

Newcomer Jordan Susman wrote and directed the film and also produced with Robert Latham Brown and Amy Greenspun. Kevin Iwashina of CAA brought AWP onto the film and is handling the domestic sale, while Olsson again handled the deal for AWP.
