Overture Films has signed Lawrence Bender Productions to a two-year, first look deal, continuing the new company's efforts to source product for its fledgling distribution operation.

Bender will work closely on productions with Overture CEO Chris McGurk and COO Danny Rosett as well as head of worldwide marketing, distribution and new media Peter Adee.

'Lawrence brings an invaluable pedigree, strong relationships with talent, directors, and writers, and a keen eye for making cost-effective, quality films,' said McGurkin a statement. 'We are thrilled to have someone of his calibre as a part of the Overture team as we rapidly ramp up our production capabilities.'

Bender's credits include Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Jackie Brown and Kill Bill with director Quentin Tarantino, Good Will Hunting, Anna And The King, The Mexican, A Price Above Rubies and An Inconvenient Truth.

Overture is an operating unit of Starz, the US cable outfit which will handle Overture product on home video, premium TV and internet outlets. Overture itself will handle domestic and international distribution.
