US-Asian production and finance company Bigfoot Entertainment is entering US theatrical distribution with the release of its horror feature Midnight Movie on October 17.

Produced by Bigfoot CEO Kacy Andrews, Liam Finn and Jacques Thelemaque, the film marks the directorial debut of Jack Messitt from a screenplay written by Mark Garbett along with Messitt. The film's executive producer is Michael Gleissner, chairman of the Bigfoot Group of companies.

Starting with Midnight Movie, Bigfoot plans to handle niche platform releases in the US theatrical market - of both its own productions and those acquired from independent filmmakers with varying budgets. Marketing and distribution strategy will be managed in-house.

'Entering the domestic theatrical distribution business strengthens [Bigfoot's] position in the worldwide market, allowing us to fully capitalise on our wide ranging business activities,' said Andrews. 'Midnight Movie is a fun horror film that lends itself to a cult following among horror fans.'

The film will be given a limited release on October 17 and then rolled out to other major US markets in the traditional platform manner.

Based in Los Angeles, Hong Kong and the Philippines, Bigfoot is involved in the production and financing of films, TV series and reality shows for global distribution. It also operates production facilities and training programmes in Cebu in the Philippines.
