BimDistribuzione has acquired Italian distribution rights to Luc and Jean-PierreDardenne's Cannes competition film The Child (L'Enfant)

Sold by Celluloid Dreams, The Child tells the story of 20-year-old Bruno and hispartner, 18-year-old Sonia, who are living off social security and thefts, whenSonia gives birth to their first child. The picture, produced by France'sArchipel 35, stars Jeremie Renier (Brotherhood of The Wolf), Olivier Gourmet (The Son) and Deborah Francois.

Valerio DePaolis's Rome distribution outfit also has Italian distribution rights totwo other films that are playing in competition: Michael Haneke's Hidden, with Juliette Binoche and DanielAuteuil, and Gus Van Sant's Last Days, inspired by the last days in thelife of rocker Kurt Cobain.
